The Shipping Process From USA to Africa

There are a number of ways in which cars are shipped from the USA to Africa. The majority of cars exported are loaded and shipped in containers. It is the most popular method of shipping cars because it allows you to ship additional household goods and auto parts in the same container - saving you money versus shipping by air freight or roll-on/roll-off. When shipping your car overseas in a container you can also load salvage, or parts-cars because unlike shipping via RoRo, the car does not have to run and drive, and it can be loaded and unloaded with a fork lift.

What's Included In The Price

To receive a container shipping quote use our instant car shipping calculator to Africa above. Simply fill out the pickup location if you want us to collect your vehicle from you, choose which US coast you would like to ship from (New Jersey or California), and select the destination country and city/port. You can then choose an option for the amount of cars you are shipping, whether it is 1 or 4 cars, we can ship it all to Africa. And unlike other car shipping companies, we charge the same flat-rate, no matter the size of your car. Shipping a Toyota Tacoma will cost you the same as shipping a Toyota Camry to Africa. You can also get a quote on shipping boats, motorcycles, and pallets by following the same procedures.

2. Bill of Sale - If you are not the original owner of the vehicle, you must provide a bill of sale showing that a sale was made from the owner to you. If there was another buyer in between, you must provide a bill of sale tying the owner->1st buyer->2nd buyer. Bill of sale can be a duplicate.

Car import tax in Africa

Africa consists of 54 countries, each with its own laws on car imports. Some allow salvage cars, while others do not. Some limit the age of vehicles allowed to be imported, while others provide tax breaks on electric and hybrid vehicles. With such a wide range of laws and regulations, it would be impossible to list them all here. However, each individual country page we ship to has information on the import tax and the type of vehicles allowed to be imported.

Contact us to get an exact rate on how much import tax will be on your vehicle.

Customs clearance agents in Africa

Whichever method of international car shipping you choose, will require you to work with an overseas agent local to your destination. They will be responsible for unloading your vehicles in Africa, clearing local import customs, and they can even help with registration and delivery to your door. You always have a choice of going with your own local import agent, or we can provide one in any of the destinations you choose to ship to. Destination charges and services are separate from our international car shipping service. Please contact us if you have any questions about the costs associated with transporting your cars from the USA to Africa.

Which vehicles are shipped to Africa?

Cars shipped to Africa are usually sourced from US car auctions such as Manheim, Copart or IAAI. Auctions are popular due to the large volume of vehicles available, resulting in lower purchase costs and cheaper transportation rates from the auctions. However, these type of auctions are usually not available to the public, and require a wholesale or retail dealers license. Many international car buyers choose to go through US auto auction brokers, or apply for an auto dealers license themselves.

The most popular cars shipping from the USA to Africa are the Toyota Camry, Corolla, Sienna, Rav4, and the Tacoma, While Toyota may dominate most African markets, Hyundai, Ford and even Jeep are also popular cars to import to Africa.

Countries like South Africa also have demand for classic cars from overseas. Classics like the Mustang, Camaro, and Corvette are popular imports. Looking for a classic car to import to Africa? Check out our blog on where to buy classic cars in the US
