Ford Bronco UK: Import a US Bronco and What It Costs | 2026

Written by Dan Burkandt | October 19, 2026 at 8:30 AM

Every Ford Bronco on a UK forecourt is an import, and the asking prices show it: GBP 54,995 for a Badlands, GBP 66,950 for a Heritage Edition. The same Badlands sells for $43,000 to $51,000 in the US and lands in Southampton, duty and VAT paid, for about GBP 48,500. The Bronco is the clearest import case in the UK right now, and 3,600 people a month searching "Ford Bronco UK" seem to agree.

We think the sixth-generation Bronco is the first American 4x4 since the original Range Rover's heyday that a British buyer wants on its own terms, not as a novelty. Body on frame, removable doors and roof, a real transfer case, and a shape that Ford had the sense not to soften. Ford did not bring it to UK showrooms. We bring it to Southampton.

By the numbers

  • Ocean freight, our New Jersey warehouse to Southampton: $1,200 per vehicle in a consolidated container, 14-16 days (WCS rates table, October 18, 2026). Florida $1,375, 32-39 days. California $1,850, 29-40 days.
  • US asking prices, October 2026: 2023 to 2024 Bronco Badlands $43,000 to $51,000; Wildtrak median about $47,000; Bronco Raptor from $49,987 used, CLASSIC.com benchmark $86,040 (KBB listings, CLASSIC.com).
  • UK asking prices, October 2026: Badlands 2.7 GBP 54,995, Heritage GBP 66,950 (Autotrader UK).
  • UK import duty on an SUV under heading 8703: 10%. Import VAT: 20% (UK Integrated Online Tariff, read October 19, 2026).
  • First-generation Bronco, 1966 to 1977: 184 for sale on CLASSIC.com, asking from $49,999.

Which Ford Bronco to import to the UK

The sixth generation, 2021 on, is the one the searches are about. The 2.7 litre EcoBoost V6 with 330 hp is the engine to have; the 2.3 four-cylinder is fine but you did not ship a car across an ocean for fine. Badlands is the trim we would buy: front and rear lockers, disconnecting front stabiliser bar, 33 inch tyres from the factory. Wildtrak is the desert-runner version with the wider Sasquatch arches as standard, and it trades at about $47,000 in the US.

Then there is the Bronco Raptor. 418 hp from a 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6, 37 inch tyres, a track 8.6 inches wider than a standard Bronco, and a new price in the US of $84,680 to $99,195. It is the one Bronco that is wide enough to be a problem on a Devon lane, and the one most likely to hold its money. Used examples start just under $50,000 for a 2023, which is where we would look.

Skip the Bronco Sport. It is a Kuga-based crossover wearing the name, Ford Europe already sold near-identical products, and GBP 22,995 on Autotrader buys you nothing a Kuga does not do.

Ford Bronco for sale in the UK vs landed from the US

A sixth-generation Bronco is a passenger vehicle under heading 8703. UK duty is 10% on the car plus the freight, and import VAT is 20% on that total. We use our New Jersey to Southampton lane, the GBP 620 destination charge from our rates table, and 1.33 dollars to the pound (October 2026).

A $47,000 Bronco Wildtrak

Car $47,000, freight $1,200, duty $4,820, VAT $10,604, destination charge about $825. Landed: about $64,400, or GBP 48,500. Autotrader wants GBP 54,995 for a Badlands today, so a careful buyer is ahead by about GBP 6,000 before haggling, and gets to choose the colour.

An $86,000 Bronco Raptor

Car $86,000, freight $1,200, duty $8,720, VAT $19,184, destination charge about $825. Landed: about $115,900, or GBP 87,200. There is no UK Raptor stock to compare it with, which is rather the point.

Add GBP 199 for the IVA test, GBP 55 for DVLA registration, and vehicle tax. A Bronco registered new in the UK with CO2 over 255 g/km should expect a first-year VED of GBP 5,690, then GBP 200 a year plus the GBP 440 expensive-car supplement from year two to six because the list price is over GBP 40,000. Budget for it; it is the one cost that surprises people.

Registration: IVA, NOVA and the DVLA

Every sixth-generation Bronco is under 10 years old, so it sits an Individual Vehicle Approval test in the left-hand-drive class. An unmodified Bronco passes once three things are sorted: headlamps that dip to the left, a speedometer that reads in mph (the digital cluster in most Broncos switches units), and a rear fog lamp, which US trucks do not carry. Expect to replace the headlamp units and fit the lamp before the test.

The rest is paperwork. The import agent clears the container at Southampton and you pay duty and VAT. HMRC is told within 14 days through NOVA, by you or the agent. Then the V55/5 to DVLA with the original US title, which DVLA keeps, and an MOT if the truck is over 3 years old. The V5C arrives within about 6 weeks. Left-hand drive is legal to register and drive, and we would leave it that way.

London buyers: ULEZ is enforced on declared emissions, not age. A 2021 and newer EcoBoost Bronco should meet the Euro 4 NOx level on paper, but TfL decides per vehicle, so get the evidence lined up before you buy.

The first-generation Bronco at 5% VAT

The 1966 to 1977 Bronco is the other half of this market, and HMRC treats it differently. A truck over 30 years old, in original condition, scarce and no longer in production can be classified as a collectors' item under heading 9705: 0% duty and VAT at an effective 5%. A $60,000 early Bronco lands for about GBP 48,900 instead of about GBP 61,400 under the standard rate.

Two warnings. First, many of the 184 first-gen Broncos on CLASSIC.com are restomods with Coyote V8s and coil springs, and HMRC's "original state" test is not a matter of opinion. A resto-mod pays 10% and 20%. Second, HMRC offers a free Advance Tariff Ruling before you import; we would get one on any early Bronco that costs more than the shipping. The upside of an original truck is that a pre-1986 build also pays no VED from April 2026 and needs no MOT if unmodified.

Buying in the US and shipping it over

Sixth-generation Broncos come from dealer stock and from Cars & Bids; first-generation trucks from Bring a Trailer, Mecum and Barrett-Jackson, all of which sell to overseas bidders. Once you have bought, we collect the Bronco anywhere in the US and bring it to our warehouse in California, Florida or New Jersey, where our own team loads every vehicle and handles every document. Consolidated container is the usual choice; air freight is quoted when a show date demands it.

We ship door to door, by ocean or air. Use the WCS shipping calculator for an instant rate to Southampton, read how we ship a collector car, or send us the truck's details. The UK shipping page carries every lane and the current duty and VAT notes, and our guide to American pickups in the UK covers the F-150, Tundra and TRX the same way.
