Broad Arrow at Audrain Motor Week 2026: Notable Cars and Sales Results

October 25, 2026 at 10:52 AM

Audrain Motor Week returned to Newport, Rhode Island this October, and for the first time the auction was run by Broad Arrow. The results were notable. On October 2, 57 of 65 lots sold for a total of $15,810,540, up from $11.06M at Bonhams' 2025 Newport sale. That is more than Bonhams brought in any of its five years at the event.

The preview took place outdoors on the practice courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Every car got its own page in a 100-page printed catalog, with a QR code linking to the full listing. Below we take a look at the cars that stood out, using the lot-by-lot results reported by Rick Carey's Collector Car Auction Reports. All prices include the buyer's premium.

The Top Sale: 1914 Stutz 4E Bearcat, $1,875,000

The top sale of the day went to a car with over a century of documented ownership. The 1914 Stutz Bearcat (Lot 116) passed through Smith Hempstone Oliver, Winthrop Rockefeller's Petit Jean museum, and Bill Harrah's collection before arriving in Newport.

It sold for $1,875,000, inside its $1.75M to $2M estimate. The same car brought $2,920,000 in 2021 and $715,000 back in 2006. Early American sports cars rarely change hands, and this one gives its new owner a genuine piece of the brass era.

Modern Supercars Carried the Middle of the Sale

Post-2000 cars filled out the high six figures, with four sales between $368,000 and $538,500.

  • 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia, $538,500 (Lot 117). Bianco Avus over black, 25,454 miles, with a belt service in 2025. Scuderia values have been climbing, and this result follows the trend.
  • 2022 McLaren 765LT Spider, $516,500 (Lot 161). Offered at no reserve with 3,350 miles. The 755hp Spider sold below its $500,000 low estimate once the premium is removed.
  • 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, $428,500 (Lot 109). A matte Alanite Grey example with 4,191 miles. It sold for $280,000 in 2022, and new pricing started around $185,000.
  • 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, $368,000 (Lot 111). Rosso Competizione with only 904 miles and the carbon package.

A Concours Dino Finds a New Home

The 1970 Ferrari 246 GT Dino (Lot 113) in Giallo Fly brought $456,000. The car carries multiple Platinum awards from the Cavallino Classic and the Ferrari Club of America. It sold at Monterey a year ago for $434,000, so it held its ground and then some.

American Classics That Delivered

  • 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T Hemi, $207,200 (Lot 128). Plum Crazy, 426 Hemi, 4-speed, with its broadcast sheet. It cleared its high estimate.
  • 1956 Continental Mark II, $173,600 (Lot 124). Deep green over green leather and a two-time Continental Owners' Club winner. It sold well above its $150,000 high estimate.
  • 1961 Chevrolet Corvette FI Convertible, $103,600 (Lot 118). Ermine White with white coves, NCRS Top Flight and AACA Senior awards.

Pre-War Elegance for the Money

The 1936 Hispano-Suiza K6 Berline by Vanvooren (Lot 135) sold for $156,800. It won the Alec Ulmann Trophy at Pebble Beach in 1990 and still presents at a concours level. A 1937 Packard Super Eight Convertible Victoria (Lot 123) followed at $123,200 with a restoration that has aged remarkably well.

The Best Buys of the Day

A few lots went to buyers who will be smiling for a while.

  • 1957 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Starfire Convertible, $44,800 (Lot 148). Triple carburetors, an AACA restoration, and an $80,000 low estimate.
  • 1932 Ford High Boy Roadster, $42,000 (Lot 159). Candy Apple Red with a 347 V-8 and Alan Johnson pinstriping, against a $70,000 low estimate.
  • 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT, $56,000 (Lot 114). A well-built restomod with a modified 2-litre Twin Spark, sold at no reserve.
  • 1961 VW Type 2 23-Window Samba, $92,400 (Lot 154). Sealing Wax Red, restored to a high standard, and less than many 23-windows bring.

The Ones That Got Away

Not every headline car found a buyer. The 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (Lot 153) was bid to $1,550,000 against a $1.6M low estimate and did not sell. A 300SL Roadster stopped at $1,050,000. A 1930 Cadillac V-16 Fleetwood Phaeton, a 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Vantage Drophead, and a 1914 Detroit Electric Gentleman's Roadster also stayed unsold, with several now available from Broad Arrow after the sale.

The rarest car on the lawn was the 1967 Bizzarrini GT America 2+2 Prototype (Lot 158). It was bid to $300,000 on the block and sold afterwards at an undisclosed price.

What Newport 2026 Tells Us

A 43% jump in total sales in Broad Arrow's first year shows a growing East Coast market for collector cars. Buyers paid up for low-mileage modern supercars and well-documented concours cars, and they were careful with everything in between. That makes Newport one of the most exciting fall sales to watch heading into 2027.
