What Is RORO Shipping?

RORO shipping is a simple and an affordable method to transport running cars between the US and overseas. West Coast Shipping has contracts with all RoRo carriers with service between the USA and RoRo ports worldwide. We offer door to door service, and provide competative rates and exceptional service.

RORO, which stands for Roll-on/Roll-off, is a shipping process which places your cars  inside specially equipped ships. Think of the ships as giant  parking lots on the water. Vehicles are driven inside the vessel by port workers, and then secured to the floor.  Since they are driven on and off the ships, vehicles must be in run and drive condition. If the vehicle doesn't start, the RORO terminal won't accept your car for shipping. Because of this, shipping classic cars via the RORO method is not recommended.

Cost of RORO Car Shipping

The cost of shipping a car via Roll-on/Roll-off is comparable to shipping  in a container. However, not all ports around the world are accessible by RORO.

RORO Shipping Process

The RORO shipping process is similar to shipping a car in a container. However, you have the option of delivering the vehicle to the departure port terminal where it will go on a ship. If you do so, please ensure that only a minimal amount of fuel is left in the gas tank. Terminals will either charge a fee to drain the gas, or will not accept the vehicle for shipping.
