How Cars Are Shipped to Finland

When shipping cars overseas from the US to Finland you have a couple of options.

Container Shipping

Shipping in a container allows you to have up to 4 cars in a single container. The cars do not have to be in run and drive condition because they do not have to be driven. We have perfected our loading technique over the last decade allowing us to load your cars without the use of a fork lift, which avoids damaging the underbody. A container also gives you the option of loading other auto parts or household goods along with your cars. Containers are shipped to Kotka on a weekly basis. Transit time for shipping in a container is 21 days from the East Coast, and 37 days from the West Coast. Get a quote on container shipping by using the car shipping calculator on this page.

RoRo Shipping

Shipping via Roll-on/Roll-off may be a good choice when shipping only 1 car. The downsides are that the vehicle must be in run and drive condition, because it will be driven on and off the ship. You are also not allowed to have anything else in the vehicle, making it more expensive to move household goods or auto parts to Finland compared to shipping in a container. Also, not all US or Finish ports support RoRo ships. Sailings are every 7 to 14 days, and transit time to Finland is similar to container shipping. Get a quote on RoRo car shipping to Finland here.

Air Freight

Although shipping a car via air freight to Finland is the most expensive option, it is also the quickest way to transport your car overseas. Here is how it works. Cars are picked up from your door and taken to the nearest major international airport. In the meantime, we submit all of the required documentation to US customs to gain export clearance for your car. Once we receive clearance, you car is loaded into the cargo hold on the next flight to Finland.
