When shipping a vehicle overseas from the United States, your agent will require a few documents. One of the most important is the original title. Without it, US customs will not allow the vehicle to be exported. The only exception is if the vehicle is a collectors car which was registered in a state which did not provide titles at the time of production. Your title will be given to customs for clearance and then returned either directly to you or your agent.
US citizens will be required to provide an EIN letter, and non-US citizens will have to provide a copy of their passport. A power of attorney form will also have to be completed.
The fastest method of moving cars and motorcycles from the US to Norway is via Air Freight service. It is the most expensive option, with prices ranging from $3,000 to over $15,000 depending on the route and vehicle size. However, you can expect to have your vehicle in Europe within 3 to 10 days, barring any customs or documentation delays. Vehicles can be shipped between any major US and Norwegian airport. Shipping cars via RoRo is one of the cheapest ways to reach Norway. Your vehicle is simply driven on and off the ship, meaning your car must run and drive. You will also not be able to ship anything else in your vehicle. If you are moving to Norway, shipping a project car, or shipping more than one car, shipping in a container would make more sense. The cheapest port for RoRo shipping to Norway is Drammen. Get a RoRo car shipping quote here.
