The Monterey Auctions were busy this year, as 1,143 cars crossed the auction block. The final total from the auctions stands at $391.6 million, down 3% compared to the previous year. Take a look at our coverage here.

Yet the total sales figure doesn't paint a complete picture as the variety of cars, their age, and the ultimate price paid leads us to the following conclusions:

• Prices have softened from the numerous blockbuster years after Covid
• The US Dollar has weakened against the EUR ($1.11), GBP ($1.31), CHF ($1.17), AUD ($0.67) & NZD ($0.62) during the past week and may have contributed to some of the results
• Top cars continue to earn top money while retaining their "Mona Lisa" status
• 80s to 90s cars continue to shine as the younger crowd is drawn in to become collectors
• Unrestored cars continue to draw a crowd and win awards with the Best of Show award at Pebble going to a Bugatti Type 59 Sports once owned by King Leopold III of Belgium
