Effective January 1st, 2018 electric cars imported to Ukraine will no longer be charge any VAT or excise duty. The latest ruling establishes Ukraine as one of the top destinations for electric car imports. Electric cars were previously subject to a 20% VAT and 109 euro excise duty. 

Overall car imports to Ukraine from the United States in 2017 were up by over 160% when compared to the previous year. With the removal of VAT and excise duties we expect the import of Nissan Leafs, Teslas, and other electric cars to continue growing.
