Ports & Shipping Routes: USA to UAE

We ship motorcycles from the USA to the primary UAE motorcycle shipping port, Jebel Ali in Dubai.

Jebel Ali is the UAE's largest commercial port, the world's largest man-made harbour, and the country's main entry point for international vehicle imports. Located in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), it serves as the primary gateway for motorcycle shipments from the USA to the UAE, with frequent container sailings and excellent handling for sport bikes, classic motorcycles, dirt bikes, and high-value custom builds. WCS coordinates secure loading, US export documentation, and delivery directly through this world-class shipping hub. Jebel Ali's strategic location in Dubai makes it a convenient arrival point for motorcycle shipments heading to destinations across the United Arab Emirates. From Dubai, onward delivery can be arranged to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and anywhere else across all seven emirates.

Depending on your final delivery location, our local agents can coordinate onward transport from the Port of Jebel Ali to your destination anywhere in the UAE. Documents Required to Ship a Motorcycle to the UAE from the USA

Shipping your motorcycle from the United States to the UAE involves clearing US customs, which requires submitting several documents to prove bike ownership. Here are the required documents for motorcycle export to the UAE:

  • Bill of Sale for the motorcycle
  • Original Motorcycle Title (If there is a lien on the bike, a lien release letter is also required)
  • Power of Attorney form
  • Completed Online Shipping Form
  • Copy of Passport (if you are an international citizen without a US passport)
  • Copy of EIN Letter (if you are a US citizen)

Please note that certain states do not issue titles for classic motorcycles. For example, Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont do not issue titles for older bikes. Ensure you check the requirements specific to your state before proceeding with your motorcycle export to the UAE. For classic motorcycles (30+ years old), additional documentation such as a Vehicle Classification Certificate (VCC) may be required by UAE authorities.

Once your motorcycle arrives at the Port of Jebel Ali in Dubai, additional import documentation may be required for Dubai Customs clearance, including a commercial invoice, certificate of origin, and Bill of Lading. Your motorcycle must meet ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) and GSO (Gulf Standardization Organization) safety and compliance standards. A technical inspection at a Tasjeel or Shamil centre will verify your motorcycle meets UAE road safety requirements before it can be registered with the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority). You will also need a valid Emirates ID, UAE residence visa, and motorcycle insurance to complete the registration process. Your account manager can advise on the full documentation needed for a smooth UAE import process.

The Motorcycle Import Process to UAE

UAE Motorcycle Import Duties, VAT & Customs

  • The UAE applies a customs duty of approximately 5% on imported motorcycles, calculated on the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value of your motorcycle. In addition, VAT of 5% is applied to the total landed cost including duty. This combined import tax of approximately 10% makes the UAE one of the most affordable destinations for motorcycle imports from the USA — significantly lower than most European and Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Dubai Customs processes motorcycle imports through the Port of Jebel Ali. Clearance timelines for standard motorcycles typically range from 2–4 business days, though non-GCC-spec vehicles may require additional processing time of up to 1–2 weeks depending on documentation and inspection requirements. Consult a qualified customs broker or Dubai Customs directly for current rates and clearance procedures specific to your shipment.
  • The UAE enforces a vehicle age restriction that generally prohibits the import of used vehicles older than 10 years. Before shipping your motorcycle, verify that your bike's model year falls within the allowable import window. Motorcycles that exceed the age limit may be refused entry at Dubai Customs. Your account manager can help confirm your motorcycle's eligibility before shipping begins.
  • Classic and vintage motorcycles (30 years or older) may be exempt from the standard age restriction. Importing a classic motorcycle to the UAE typically requires special permits and a Vehicle Classification Certificate (VCC) issued through the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority). Additional inspections and documentation may apply. This makes the UAE an attractive destination for shipping classic and vintage motorcycles from the USA, provided the correct approvals are obtained in advance.
  • All motorcycles imported into the UAE must meet ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) and GSO (Gulf Standardization Organization) safety and compliance standards. These standards are primarily based on a combination of European and US federal motor safety regulations. US-built motorcycles generally align well with these requirements, though non-GCC-spec motorcycles may face additional scrutiny during the RTA registration process. Your account manager can advise on any compliance considerations specific to your motorcycle's make and model.
  • A mandatory technical inspection must be completed at an approved inspection centre such as Tasjeel, Shamil, or Tamam before your motorcycle can be registered for road use in the UAE. Inspectors evaluate safety, emissions, and overall roadworthiness. If your motorcycle fails inspection, modifications or repairs must be completed before re-inspection.

Please complete the rate request form at the top of this page to get in contact with our team. We can help estimate the customs duty, VAT, and fees applicable to your specific bike and destination, and verify your motorcycle's age eligibility for UAE import.
