For the most flexibility in shipping one or more cars to Sweden you should go with a container. You can ship practically anything along with the car, including parts and household goods, saving you money versus other shipping options. You can also ship project cars, as well as high value vehicles in their own dedicated containers, securely strapped and braced.
In a 20ft container you can fit 1 car or 8 motorcycles. And depending on the vehicle size, a 40ft container can hold up to 6 cars or 16 motorcycles. If you are shipping just one car, the consolidated car shipping option would be right for you. It allows you to share container space with other customers, driving down the shipping costs.
Shipping cars via Roll-on/Roll-off may be the right option when shipping just 1 car at a time. However, it must run and drive in order to be loaded on and off the ship. You won't be able to load anything along with the car, since RoRo shipping does not allow for it. Cost of RoRo shipping to Sweden and availability tend to fluctuate throughout the year, we suggest you contact us for a detailed quote.
For those who need the car in Sweden as fast as possible, shipping the car by Air may be the best, and ultimately the most expensive option. Cars are taken to the nearest international airport to be loaded onto a plane in the cargo hold. From there they can be shipped to nearly any international airport in Sweden. While the shipping is quick, customs does take a few days to clear all export and import documentation. Get a quote on Air Freight to Sweden here.
When shipping cars from the USA to Sweden you are required to submit numerous documents. An original title for the vehicle must be given to the shipping agent in order to clear customs. No copies will be accepted, and if there is a lien on the title, you must have a notarized letter from the bank releasing the lien. The only time the title isn't required is when you are shipping a classic car that was originally registered in one of the states which did not issue titles.
Other required documents include a copy of a passport or if you are a US citizen a copy of an EIN letter which you can request from the IRS. You will also need to complete the Power of Attorney form and fill out our online shipping form.
